Working in the IDlab

• In the week before entering the IDlab, the technical plan must be discussed with the ATT Stage Manager responsible for the project.
• Technical drawings
• Rigging plan
• Production schedule
• PRI&E (Project Risk Inventory and Evaluation)
• The ATT Stage Manager is present during build-up and strike days and acts as the main point of contact throughout the rehearsal and performance period.
• While not present at every rehearsal or performance, they will regularly be in the space and available for questions.

• The IDlab contains a fixed lighting, sound, and cabling setup, available for reference in Rentman.
• After striking a production, check the inventory and replace missing items where necessary.
• Report missing materials to the Rental department.
• Multiple audience configurations are possible in the space.
• Coordinate the desired setup with ATT.
• The audience riser is assembled and dismantled by students under ATT supervision.
• Hallways surrounding the space may only be used during performances after consultation with ATT and Facilities Management.
• Storage areas inside the venue contain technical equipment. Please keep these areas clean and organized.
• Eating is not permitted in the studio.
• Drinks are allowed only in sealable bottles or cups.
• Exceptions apply to parties or performances involving food or drink on stage. These must be included in the PRI&E, and additional cleaning must be arranged via Reception.
• After each production, the studio must be returned clean, tidy, and swept.
• Do not leave personal belongings or clutter in the studio or dressing rooms.
• Powders (such as sugar, flour, talcum powder, salt, etc.) are strictly prohibited in any form or quantity due to fire and explosion hazards and potential damage to technical equipment.
• Whenever leaving the space, even briefly: lock the door, switch off lighting, and switch off smoke machines.

• Always pay attention to your own safety and that of others.
• Do not carry out hazardous work if you are unwell, tired, sick, or mentally overloaded.
• Never work alone.
• Respect working and rest time regulations (Dutch Working Hours Act / Theatre and Dance collective labour agreement).
• Lift responsibly. Maximum individual lifting weight: 23 kg.
• Heavier objects must be lifted by multiple people.
• Use available aids whenever possible (trolleys, dollies, ropes, hoists, etc.).
• Safety shoes (minimum S1P standard) are mandatory during all technical build-up and strike work.
• Shoes can be borrowed from Reception if needed.
• Wear appropriate clothing for technical work: no loose scarves, no large earrings, long hair tied back, and avoid anything that could get caught in cables or scenery.

• Technical work in the studio must be supervised by ATT staff or an ATT-approved freelancer.
• D&T Year 3 and 4 students may work independently after approval from the project Stage Manager, provided that person is present in the building.
• D&T Year 2 students may only work under supervision of ATT staff, teachers, or D&T4 students (with the project Stage Manager present in the building).
• D&T Year 1 students may only work under supervision of ATT staff or teachers.
• Students from all other programs may only carry out technical work under supervision of ATT staff or teachers.

Examples

• Truss structures may not be hung diagonally (diamond position), as load distribution becomes unclear.
• NEC projectors may only be used horizontally. Use mirrors if alternative projection angles are needed.
• Speakers may only be suspended using designated mounting brackets and hooks, never by handles.
• Steel slings may not be attached directly to aluminium truss.
• ATD ladders and scaffolding are certified annually and may only be used for working at height. They may not be used as set pieces or during performances.
• If smoke machines are used: ask Reception to place smoke detectors in sniffer mode; notify Reception again once the smoke has cleared so the detectors can be reactivated.

• Cables must be routed neatly and safely.
• Use cable covers where necessary.
• Do not place cables across walkways, doors, or exits.
• Never drive over cables or drag objects across them.
• Tape may not be used to secure cables, filters, etc.
• Use Willemjantjes instead (available from Rental).
• Technical equipment may only be used for its intended and certified purpose according to manufacturer guidelines.

• Self-climbing trusses and carres may be loaded up to 250 kg total load with maximum point load of 125 kg.
• Self-climbing matrasses may be loaded up to 400kg total load with a maximum of 100kg per quadrant.
• Trusses may never move above people.
• Flying or lifting people is only permitted with a completed PRI&E and professional supervision (hired at the production's expense).
• All suspended elements must use certified rigging materials and proper installation methods.

VBT-A

• Maximum of one truss moved simultaneously.
• Work lights must be on.
• No audio playback.
• Sufficient visibility required.
• Not permitted during performances.
• D&T or TP students who have completed rigging classes may operate one truss under supervision of ATT staff or teachers with VBT-A certification.

VBT-B

• Multiple trusses may be moved simultaneously.
• Truss movement during performances is not permitted.
